Anait is a BA(Hons) fashion with photography graduate.
Where are you currently working/ what projects are you currently working on?
I work freelance, mostly with fashion retail brands and magazines on photography and post production projects. I predominantly work in London and Milan.
How do you find inspiration for your work?
I am constantly trying to elevate my cultural level by reading, watching films, attending exhibitions and being active on Instagram.
What was the journey like from graduation to where you are now in your career?
Time flies! You have work fast but be patient at the same time, it’s funny paradox.
Has your career lead to where you hoped it would?
Yes, definitely. I tend to split my big goals into chapters and think of ways to achieve them. At the moment, I am somewhere half way through.
Do you think your style of work has changed?
I feel both myself and my work has changed a lot through the last couple of years, along with my perception and opinion on many questions. The process is endless, we change both physically and mentally with age and so does out taste.
Your projects are a collaborative process. Tell us what is like to always be working with new stylists, models, and designers.
It certainly exercises your flexibility, patience and ability to find compromises, but it’s worth it! I believe that any project, in any industry, benefits from team work rather than a sole professional.
How important is your website in terms of aiding your commercial work?
I would recommend starting off using social media, such as creating an Instagram. Once you are capable of creating solid content on a free platform designing your own personal website is the next step.
Do you have any advice for aspiring students?
It’s great to spend some time of your career working for someone else and I really suggest that you start working on your own, personal projects as soon as possible. Do not be shy!
