Once again, the opportunity for Level 5 Make-Up and Hair Design

students to win well deserved recognition for their films during the

AnonStyle Film Awards has come around. All the submissions were

created in the advancement of their Make-Up for TV and Film unit, and

a course with a student body of around 100, there was bound to

be some great material.

Briefed with a monologue as their prime source of stimuli; the challenge

was to create a 90 second film and construct narrative through indirect

characterisation. This was implemented by using hair,

make-up and styling to show time period, age, sex and social status.

Although the majority of the students were new to the technicalities of

videography and editing, the finished results didn’t fail to impress,  with groups taking inspiration from the elegance of perfume adverts, to European filmmakers such as Pedro Almodovar.
