Incubus is an online exhibition partnered with a book, exploring the three states of the conscious mind through prosthetic makeup. Incubus was created to demonstrate the use of prosthetic makeup within editorial fashion, as this medium is very rarely used in the industry.
The concepts behind each shoot thoroughly investigate and visually reflect the conscious, subconscious and the unconscious mind. Incubus portrays elements of these segments, such as the creativity that is derived from the sub-conscious, visual representations of the loss of the conscious mind, and the processes of our minds when creating dreams. The mind has been thoroughly explored by many artists before, however little has been done to investigate the three stages, which has led Incubus to be a unique and original project. Showcased through two mediums, Incubus targets a wide audience, allowing those who use online technology to access the gallery, whilst those who do not, can access the gallery through physical form.
The processes that have allowed this project to take form have been documented through an online exhibition, allowing the audience to study the progression of the project. Incubus has allowed the artist to build and expand on her skills of prosthetic makeup, which has quickly turned into a passion of hers. The project focuses on the beauty of prosthetics, with a dominant Gothic theme running throughout.
